Autumn Equinox

Danika Vautour

Autumn has a way of drawing us in and inviting us to appreciate the beauty of change. The crisp air, the vibrant colours of the leaves, and the soft light of the shorter days make this season feel like a time of settling in. I love watching the world around me transform as the leaves take on warm, golden hues and the earth becomes a patchwork of browns, reds, and yellows. It’s a season that brings comfort, inviting us to curl up and embrace all things cozy.

There’s something special about sweater weather, about wrapping yourself in a soft knit and enjoying the warmth it brings. Autumn makes me want to slow down in the mornings, taking a little extra time to savour a hot drink paired with a good book. The mornings feel crisp and fresh, and I find myself relishing these quiet moments before the day begins. It’s the perfect time to reset, breathe in the cool air, and appreciate the beauty that this season has to offer.

As we transition into Autumn, I love bringing these comforting elements into my home. The textures of warm wool throws, the deep tones of amber and rust, and the earthy scent of candles all come together to create a space that feels warm and inviting. It’s a time to fill your home with rich colours and natural elements like dried flowers and branches that remind us of the changing landscape outside. These simple touches help to create a cozy atmosphere that mirrors the season’s beauty.

Some of my favourite pieces I reach for during this season are the Travel Home book by Caitlin Flemming and Julie Goebel, a lovely read that perfectly blends design with the spirit of travel, making it a perfect companion for a cozy afternoon. Another favourite is the sponge cloths made by Ten and Co., which bring a touch of warmth and sustainability into the home, making it both practical and beautiful. And for me, no season feels complete without candles from A White Nest. They truly have a scent for every season and have become an essential part of my home, adding to the ambiance and making every room feel welcoming. For all things cozy, Croft is our favourite stop. Inspired by the Scottish Highlands, their curated selection includes wool blankets, warm knits, socks, and candles, everything you need to embrace the season of hygge.

Whether you’re enjoying the golden hour light or wrapping up in blankets with your favourite person, there’s magic in the simple things this time of year.
